Vocal cord
disorders (VCD) are any anatomical or functional disorders that affect the
vocal cords. The vocal cords are two bands of smooth muscle tissue found in the
larynx (voice box). The larynx is located in the neck at the top of the
windpipe also called as trachea. The human voice is generated when the air in
the lungs is pushed out between the contracting vocal cords.
Most Common Vocal Cord Disorders Include:
• Laryngitis
• Vocal nodules
• Vocal polyps
• Vocal cord paralysis
